This medicine is not right for everyone. You should not receive it if you had an allergic reaction to lutetium Lu 177 vipivotide tetraxetan.How to Use This Medicine:
Injectable
- A doctor or other trained health professional will give you this medicine. It is given through a needle placed in one of your veins. It must be given slowly, so the needle will have to remain in place for at least 30 minutes.
- Drink extra fluids so you will pass more urine during treatment with this medicine. This may help prevent kidney problems.
- You will need to urinate right away and as often as possible before and after you receive this medicine. This will help remove this radioactive medicine from your body.
Drugs and Foods to Avoid:
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
Warnings While Using This Medicine:
- Male patients who have female partners should use effective birth control during treatment with this medicine and for at least 14 weeks after the last dose. If you think your partner has become pregnant during treatment, tell your doctor right away.
- Tell your doctor if you have kidney disease or blood problems.
- This medicine may cause kidney problems.
- You will be exposed to radiation while you receive this medicine. If you have any questions about this, talk to your doctor.
- This medicine may make you bleed, bruise, or get infections more easily. Take precautions to prevent illness and injury. Wash your hands often.
- Talk with your doctor before using this medicine if you plan to have children. Some men who use this medicine have become infertile (unable to have children).
- Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.
Possible Side Effects While Using This Medicine:
Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects:
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Dark urine or pale stools, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, stomach pain, yellow skin or eyes
- Decrease in how much or how often you urinate, blood in the urine, muscle twitching, nausea, seizures
- Fever, chills, cough, sore throat, body aches
- Rapid weight gain, swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet
- Unusual bleeding, bruising, or weakness
If you notice these less serious side effects, talk with your doctor:
- Change or loss of taste
- Constipation
- Dry mouth
